Garage Band is an effort to contribute to the development of American (now World) popular music. From the roots of "Rock an' Roll" and Jazz to the music of today, class participants will explore the repertoire that laid the groundwork for today's music from a mostly musical perspective. Though some historical context is necessary to understand the significance of the music's development, the focus will be squarely on playing and understanding musical structure.
Original musical ideas from students will also be incorporated into the class for study and development.
